LOTS OF NEWS!

1. PURGE is out in paperback! I'll be having some giveaways and contests on my blog and other blogs shortly.

2. LIFE AFTER comes out July 1st. Ditto on the giveaways and contests.

3. Will be going into intensive revisions on WTGP next week. Very, very, very excited about this book.

4. Started a new part time job at the Voracious Reader bookstore in Larchmont, NY. It's a fantastic independent bookseller focusing in children and young adults, with knowledgeable staff and great programming. Come visit!

5. Busy working on Book 5 (as yet untitled). While it has some serious themes,  I'm enjoying the humor after the seriousness of WTGP.

6. The full animation of our StoryCorps interview is online. Check out the new page of the website - link on homepage!

Want to Go Private and the Super Sekrit Project

The manuscript for WANT TO GO PRIVATE went off to Wonder Editor Jen at Scholastic earlier this month and I'm now working the proposal for a Super Sekrit Project. It's for something rather different than what I've been working on before and I'm pretty excited about it. Been busy doing research and creating characters and thinking about plots. More in the New Year!

WANT TO GO PRIVATE?

I'm in the final stretch of the first draft of my fourth book, which now has a working title, WANT TO GO PRIVATE?  If I keep up the current pace, I should be finished with the draft early next week. Once I'm done, I'll spent a week or so cleaning my house and catching up on all the things I've neglected while I've been in a writing frenzy, and then start revising.  It's been fascinating (and scary) working on this book and I've been really grateful for the help I've received from my local FBI office and Greenwich Police Department.

Books update

We've just finished the copy edits on LIFE, AFTER and I hope to have the cover art up on the website shortly. Meanwhile I'm busy working on the as yet untitled 2011 novel. I'm very excited about it and it involved getting permission from FBI Headquarters in Washington to interview my Special Agents at my local FBI office in New Haven. Fascinating stuff. I'll tell you more as the book progresses...

Coming Next Year...LIFE, AFTER

I'm busy revising my next book, LIFE, AFTER, which will be coming from Scholastic Press next year. I've just seen the proposed cover art, and it's every evocative of the mood of the book. More news to come...

Some Exciting News

Confessions of a Closet Catholic has been nominated for the 2008 Rodda Award given out by the Church and Synagogue Library Association for a children's book that "exemplifies literary excellence while nurturing sensitive spiritual values in readers."  My sincerest thanks to Forrest Rice, librarian at the Community United Methodist Church in Napierville, IL, for the nomination.

New Book update

Still no title for the new book from Scholastic, but it will be published in Spring 2009.

New Contact details

As part of my house move, I've relocated my PO Box for Snail Mail contacts. The new address is PO Box 201, Cos Cob, CT, 06807-0201. If you are going to write me, it's much quicker to write to that address than to go through my publisher. Keep those letters coming :>)

It's sold!

My second novel, described a "poignant  but funny journey of a teenager winning her battle with bulimia", has just been bought by David Levithan at Scholastic. Stay tuned for more details on publication date and the new title.
